About us

History of our company

At Adurbe we have been working since 2009 to improve the quality of life of people with some type of dependency, focusing on older people and people with disabilities.

Our work arises from the need to provide a solution to a widespread problem in our society, which we consider was not being addressed technically from the field of architecture, namely the development of day-to-day life for this profile of users. With the real estate boom much building was constructed in a completely accelerated way without paying attention to the new needs that were appearing for this type of people, leaving them in the background, with minimal regulatory involvement at the architectural level that always remained on paper.

This population need led us to study and embark on the path of Social Architecture to be able to respond with our technical knowledge to the program of needs that the population was requiring. Initially we put our know-how towards technical advice for individuals and, over time and with specialization, we have directed the bulk of our work to Social Centers that bring together a certain complexity that must be addressed from a global perspective so that improvements or new buildings can result in useful spaces for the people we work for.

Company philosophy

From the beginning our interventions have always focused on Projects that required specific accessibility conditions or adaptations for our regular users. We decided to work exclusively for user profiles with dependency, whatever it might be, specializing in this specific area.

We have always wanted our work to be reflected in reality and not to remain on paper; this has been a fundamental requirement, which is why we have numerous interventions in projects, construction works and equipment, and we have also contributed, from the beginning, to raising awareness about Universal Accessibility so necessary in our lives, participating in numerous conferences, congresses and courses, both for construction technicians and for professionals in the social sector, as well as for students and administrative technicians.

Another fundamental characteristic of our work has been seeking solutions that would provide an alternative for our users in any situation that prevented them from developing their lives as autonomously and independently as possible.

We have wanted to make our work evident by adapting the existing city and building new spaces so that all people can have the quality of life they deserve, seeking equality of opportunity as far as possible regardless of each person’s abilities.
